Up to the middle of the novelSam and Alicia had sex. Ok, it's normal in this age, but they didn't use contraception and now Alicia is pregnant, and this is unusual.
Now I'm a little bit confused because I don't understand the leap in time chapter. Sam dreams that he is living in the future and he sees what will happen to him and Alicia after getting the baby. After this dream he runs away to Hastings and looks for work, but he doesn't find a fitting job. So he goes back and meets his challenge.

- In my opinion, it is really silly when you're not preventing in this age, because if you conceive, you bugger your life. You can't go to school or to college, you suddenly are a grown-up and you have to behave like one and you have the responsibilty for a young child.
Well, I don't want to change places with Sam!
Questions at the main characters: - And why do you want to have sex with Sam although you know him just for two days?
- what did you think when you heard that Alicia is pregnant
- Sam, why did you run away?
- Are you scared of the future?
- What did you think when you heard that Alicia is pregnant?
